Migrating from Glean to Genio

Why have we changed our name? To find out more about the change please take a look at our website here: http://genio.co/blog/goodbye-glean-hello-genio

The change to Genio means that we need to migrate all your Glean content over to our new domain (website). We've already done this for your Events that are already on our server, but we now need to check for Events that are only saved on your computer.

Info - The Glean mobile app will simply update with the Genio name and logo; you don't need to do anything with the mobile app other than update to the latest version in the App Store. (please don't uninstall the Glean app).

It should take just a few minutes for the migration to complete, the next time you sign in to your account. Once you're using Genio Notes everything else will be exactly the same as before.

  1. Make sure you're connected to the internet so that things can synchronise
  2. Log in to Glean on your computer as usual, at https://app.glean.co
  3. Your files will automatically begin transferring to the new domain. This should take no more than 2 minutes to complete.

  1. Once complete, click “Take me to Genio Notes” to take you to the new Genio domain (this will happen automatically if everything has already sync’d)

  1. Log in again (you will need to remember your password)
  2. Add the new app.genio.co/notes page to your bookmarks
  3. Continue capturing your notes as normal!
  4. The next time you can head straight to app.genio.co/notes

Important - As you'll be using Genio on a new website your browser won't remember your previous password. You can use the forgotten password button to set a new password, or use the sign-in link button to request an email to sign in.

If the transfer fails or takes too long for you to wait, then you will be able to skip the process, go back to capturing notes with Glean, and try again the next time you use Glean/Genio.

Important - The old Glean site will only be available for a limited time, so you will have to go through this process as soon as possible.

Once the old site is shut down any un-synchronised content will be permanently deleted.

FAQ

Can I continue to use Glean?

No, the old Glean site will eventually be shut down and any unsynchronised content will be instantly deleted at that point. We'll also be focussing on bringing new features to Genio, so you'll want to be using that platform.

If the switch over is taking too long to process then you can temporarily use the old Glean site, but we'd strongly recommend trying to migrate again as soon as possible.

I don't have time to wait for the upload, can I just use Glean?

If the migration takes longer than 2 minutes then you will be given the option to go back and use Glean. We do recommend waiting for the upload to complete, but understand that's not always going to be possible. If you do go back to Glean then we would strongly recommend trying to migrate again as soon as possible.

My content won't synchronise?

Please make sure that you have a stable internet connection to see if that helps.

Otherwise please contact us at support@genio.co and we can help.

What about the Glean Notes Mobile app?

The Glean Notes mobile app will simply update and have our new name; all you need to do is update to the latest version from the App Store. All your content will be there, and synchronised to our server.

Do not uninstall the app; this will delete all content that hasn't been synchronised, with no way for that to be recovered.
